What is a plug valve?
Lift plug valve is a new type of plug valve which develops rapidly in recent years. It adopts the valve operation mode of lifting first and then opening and closing, which greatly reduces the opening and closing torque of the lift plug valve. Different from the traditional lift plug valve, the rectangular reducing channel is adopted for the valve. The valve usually adopts the circular channel, which greatly reduces the flow resistance of the lift plug valve. The metal hard seal lifting lift plug valve has the advantages of both ball valve and gate valve, It can be used in high temperature and high pressure conditions, and greatly expand the use range of lift plug valve.
Features of lift plug valve
- 1. When the lifting lift plug valve with metal hard seal is opened and closed, the cock is lifted first to separate the plug from the sealing surface of the valve seat, and then the plug is rotated 90 ° to open or close the valve. Since the cock and the valve seat are separated in the process of opening and closing, the valve is easy to open and close, and the sealing surface is not easy to scratch in the process of opening or closing, so the service life of the valve is long.
- 2. lift plug valve whether in the open state or closed state, the sealing surface is protected from medium erosion, tight and reliable seal.
- 3. The common lift plug valve adopts rectangular flow channel, and the area of flow passage is reduced, which leads to a large loss of fluid resistance, while the metal hard seal lifting lift plug valve adopts the circular channel with the same cross-sectional area as the pipeline, so the fluid resistance is the minimum.
- 4. Compared with the gate valve, the height size of the valve is greatly reduced, and the fluid resistance is greatly reduced compared with the stop valve.
- 5. Compared with the common lift plug valve, the metal hard seal lifting lift plug valve is suitable for a wider range of pressure and temperature.
- 6. The valve seat sealing surfaces on both sides of the metal hard seal lifting lift plug valve can be sealed. The installation and use of the valve are not limited by the flow direction of the medium.
- 7. When the metal hard seal lifting lift plug valve is closed, the valve seat sealing surface can be pressurized by hand wheel and valve stem. By increasing the sealing specific pressure, the lift plug valve can have better sealing performance.
- 8. The sealing surface of the valve seat is convex, which is convenient for cleaning the sealing surface, and it is not easy to deposit crystal medium or solid particles on the sealing surface.

- ① RF represents raised face flange; RJ refers to the flange of the ring connecting surface.
- ② Flange size shall be in accordance with ANSI B16.5 standard. According to the user’s requirements, the flange size can also be designed and manufactured according to GB / T 9112 ~ 9124, Hg 20592 ~ 20635 and sh3406.
- ③ The flange in class150 (PN20) ~ class300 (pn50) plug valve generally adopts bolt and nut connection structure; The flange of CLASS600 (pn110) ~ 900 (pn150) plug valve generally adopts pressure self tightening sealing structure.
Precautions for installation of lift plug valve
When installing the lift plug valve, in order to prevent damage to the lift plug valve and ensure the full performance of the lift plug valve, pay attention to the following four points:
- 1. Make sure the valve is open. Heat the pipe first. Transfer as much heat as possible from the pipe to the lift plug valve. Avoid prolonging the heating time of the lift plug valve itself.
- 2. Use gauze or wire brush to remove the pipe and cutting parts to make the metal surface shine. Steel wool is not recommended.
- 3. First cut the pipe along the vertical direction, trim and remove burrs, and measure the pipe diameter.
- 4. Apply flux to the outside of the pipe and the inside of the welding cover, and the flux completely covers the welding surface. Please use flux sparingly.
